About This Web Site
... and about Dave Gutteridge
... written in the third person by himself
Doing the standup thing
This web site is the personal blog of Dave Gutteridge, who is a standup and improv comedian living in Tokyo, Japan. He performs in English and Japanese, and hopes to publish a book about humour in the near future. In the meantime, you can listen to a podcast where he gets all nerdy about how to do comedy .
He has worked in the field of graphic design and animation, but really prefers to draw with pencil and paper. Especially comics and super heroes.
He also has a surplus of opinions, and conflicting ambitions. More than anything else, Dave likes to tell stories, whether it's in writing, pictures, or whatever media tells it best. Hopefully he'll actually finish the massive pile of incomplete works of narrative greatness before he dies.
This web site is the repository of Dave's random writings, and anything else that he feels like putting here. Most of it isn't funny, just kind of opinion stuff. Some bits are funny. You can work out which is which.
Autotelic?
"Autotelic" comes from the Greek "auto~", meaning "self" and "~telos", meaning to exist. The definition is "having a purpose in and not apart from itself". In other words, this site is just here to be here, take it or leave it.
